Introduction
Part of the University of Westminster Alexander Fleming House is located in the business district of London, near to St Paul's Cathedral and the Barbican Arts Centre. The halls consist of three separate buildings with private single study bedrooms of 4/6 or 8 in self-contained flats with wash basins. The bathroom and kitchen/diner is shared only with the other occupants of the flat.
Situated on a pleasant paved piazza, this hall is ideal for the traveller wanting to get a real feel for the sights and sounds of London.
This part of London is very diverse in its culture and atmosphere, attracting artists and designers as well as large financial institutions and banks. Close by are the colourful markets of the East End as well as the more traditional tourist sights.
There are good transport links to the West End and theatre land. The halls are also safe, clean and secure with friendly staff on hand to make sure your stay is a happy and memorable one.
Food and Drinks
There are cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery in every kitchen for your use. Please wash up and return borrowed items when you have finished using them.
There is a wide range of restaurants in the area, offering local and international cuisines. A very popular Greek restaurant is situated on the square outside the Hall, serving authentic Greek food. There is also a café for drinks and light refreshments. Brick Lane, a short distance away, is famous for its curries. Hoxton Street and Pitfield Street are ideal for take-away fish and chips and vegetarian cafés. Old Street has many chain restaurants. Islington offers a variety of foreign cuisine in some of the most highly recommended restaurants.

Customer feedback

Dr Jamie Goodwin-White, October 2012: I regularly come to London and will stay many times again. I stayed at Alexander Fleming House at a point in time just before I moved to the US (after my lease in London was up). It was a stressful time for me as I had many things to do and people to see before I moved countries. All of the staff at the front desk and housekeeping staff were exceptional -- both helpful and incredibly pleasant. I specially want to thank Sinead, who arranged for my favourite coat I left behind to be shipped to the US. Thanks so much! 5/5
Mr Michael Smyth, October 2012: Always happy to stay at Alexander Fleming House . Unbeatable value for money . I will stay again if available .
Mike Smyth 5/5
Ms Rachel Whitfield, October 2012: V friendly welcome. Room v clean. 5/5
Mrs Felicity Walker, September 2012: I found the staff friendly and helpful. They changed my towels daily which I wasn't expecting. When there was noise at night security managed to quieten it down so I enjoyed my stay and pleased to find a bath not just a shower. I'd stay again. The room was clean, had enough storage and the bed was comfortable. Having free wifi made it cheaper than a youth hostel would be for a single room and better than most. 4/5
Mr David Lewis, August 2012: Room was good, as to be expected from the description. 3/5
Mrs Shirley Packwood, August 2012: Immaculately clean at all times. 4/5
Mr Geoff Davison, August 2012: For the money, excellent value--very clean and convenient 5/5

Mr Jonathan Pearson, June 2012: Basic but clean student room with shared access to bathroom and kitchen which were also clean. More comfortable bed than Travelodge (not difficult!). Free WiFi a bonus, especially as there's no TV. Recommended. 4/5
Mr Richard Walker, June 2012: Friendly staff, great location 5/5
Miss Caroline Black, June 2012: excellent value for money. 4/5
Miss Emily Couvreur, June 2012: I had a great stay and I feel that, overall, the experience was great.
I would have liked the bathroom to have been a bit cleaner (although I understand that you do not clean these for guests who are staying in non-ensuite accommodation!)
Overall, I was very happy with my stay. 5/5
Mr Christian Rassi, June 2012: good central location 4/5
Miss Angela McClelland, June 2012: Had some trouble with my key, and then with the internet... which meant I had to climb up and down an inordinate number of stair cases on arrival. Other than that, everything was perfect.. and a whole lot better than the similarly priced budget hotels I've been staying in. 5/5
Mr Claus Gaertner, June 2012: totally happy that i found this perfect place located in the centre of London. 4/5
Mr Eric Bewley, June 2012: Good value secure, quiet (except for loud closing doors), clean accommodation. Used kitchen for breakfast and evening meals which was good. Close to bus and tube - would stay again. 4/5
Mr Mark Lindsey, August 2011: Very good. Pleasant helpful staff. Would recommend. 4/5
Ms Donna Kozloskie, August 2011: The staff at Fleming House was great! It was difficult to find the facilities but once I did it was a prefect, quiet place to sleep & shower! 5/5
Daniel Hough, August 2010: The doors are very loud when they close, even when being careful - maybe put some padding things in? Otherwise great, and the staff are excellent, very helpful and really friendly. 4/5
Peter Seiler, August 2010: The value for money is very good. It is also pleasant having a chat with other people whilst staying in an accomodation.
I will come again ! 4/5
